Two Planes Collide Mid-Air in US’ Arizona; Two People Killed

Arizona, United Nations : Two people are dead after a mid-air collision in southern Arizona Wednesday morning, according to authorities. The accident occurred at Marana Regional Airport, northwest of Tucson, at 8:25 a.m. local time when two small planes collided in mid-air.

The two aircraft involved were a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). One of the planes was able to land safely; the other crashed just off a runway and ignited. Sadly, both people aboard the downed aircraft have died.

Emergency responders were unable to render medical aid because of the seriousness of the crash“, said Sergeant Vincent Rizzi of the Marana Police Department. The two people in the other plane were not injured. The Marana municipal fire department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire.

The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the collision to determine a cause of this tragic accident.
