Delta Airlines Plane Crash Lands in Toronto, Flips Over—18 Injured, Including One Child

Toronto : A harrowing scene played out on Monday at Toronto Pearson International Airport, where a Delta Airlines flight crash-landed and flipped upside down after arriving from Minneapolis. The flight, Delta 4819, had 76 passengers and four crew members on board at the time of the incident.

All 80 people on board were rescued as emergency teams rushed to help. At least 18 people were wounded, including a child. Two of the passengers are in serious condition. One of them, a man in his 60s, was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital, and another patient was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

Toronto Pearson Airport responded promptly with a post on X (formerly Twitter), in which it confirmed the incident and said emergency teams were attending to those in need. “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident during landing involving a Delta Airlines aircraft arriving from Minneapolis. (The emergency teams are responding.) All passengers and crew accounted for,” the statement said.

The air ambulance service Ornge said it had transferred three patients in critical condition, including one child. It was not clear how many other passengers were injured.

Although the cause of the crash is still under investigation, this was a sobering reminder of how unpredictable air travel can be. The good news is that all people onboard survived despite the horrific nature of the accident. We wish the injured and their families well as they recover from this terrifying ordeal.
