Jammu & Kashmir : A major accident occurred on Jammu and Kashmir late on Saturday night after a bus carrying vaishno devi pilgrims from Katra to Delhi skidded and plunged into a gorge nears Manda area. Rescuers have saved 19 passengers while the bus driver remains trapped as the rescue operation continues.
The bus was on route from Katra to Jammu,” said SSP Traffic Jammu, Fiesel Qureshi, while speaking about the rescue operation. There were a total of 19 people on board and all of them have been rescued. “The driver is still trapped, we are making every effort to extricate him. Fortunately, all of its passengers are stable.”
This dreadful accident once again put a spotlight on the threats posed by hilly terrains and night travel in the state. Rescue teams timely action saved lives but the incident also stands as a reminder for travelers and authorities to ensure strict adherence to road safety measures.
