Largest drone attack launched by Russia; Zelenskyy issues call for Unity

Ukraine : Ukraine suffered the most extensive drone attack of the war as Russia sent more than 200 drones overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday. The attack which came just before the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion was characterized as an act of “aerial terror” by the Ukrainian leader.

Our people are standing against aerial terror every day,” Zelenskyy wrote on X, calling on Ukraine’s allies to stay united.

Ukraine’s air force said that 138 drones had been shot down but another 119 were jammed and disappeared from radar. Also Russia launched three ballistic missiles, destroying in five regions.

For months, Moscow has been pummeling Ukraine with waves of drones, continuing until its air defenses were overwhelmed. Over the past week, Russia has fired almost 1,150 attack drones, more than 1,400 guided bombs and 35 missiles of various types.

Zelenskyy commended the courage of Ukraine’s air defense forces but emphasized the importance of sustained support from international allies. “This can only be done when all partners make a united effort — we need the strength of all of Europe, the strength of America, the strength of every one, who longs for a lasting peace,” he added.

But in Kyiv, fears are growing after US President Donald Trump last week attacked Zelenskyy and following news of a US-Russia meeting in Riyadh excluding Ukraine. As the war grinds on, recovering Ukraine depends on sustained global support.
